Lane etiquette (and points)

  • Passing places: pull into one on your left, or wait opposite one on your right. Never park in them.
  • Stand-off? Whoever is nearer a passing place backs up. Reversing to one earns big points.
  • Wave when someone gives way, and when they thank you.
  • Horses: under 10 mph, at least 2 m away, no horn. Cyclists: 1.5 m. Walkers: slow and wide.
  • Sheep & cattle have right of way in practice. Wait for the herd; never chase the flock.
  • Hedges hide stone. Scrapes cost points and condition. Write the car off and the run ends.
